CYBER INCIDENT INVESTIGATION INTO IMPACTED INFORMATION

ASM Global (Brisbane) (Brisbane Entertainment Centre) experienced a cyber incident in June 2025 which temporarily impacted some of our systems. As soon as this incident was detected, we worked to ensure our systems were secure and immediately launched an investigation to help determine what information was involved.

In July, we sent preliminary letters to some individuals where we had reason to believe that personal information relating to them had potentially been impacted.

While we worked diligently to complete a full review of the data involved and to locate contact information for all individuals, we were not able to locate contact information for certain individuals, including individuals who provided us with accessibility requirements and/or dietary preferences to attend past events at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

If you have not previously provided any personal information directly to Brisbane Entertainment Centre or you have not received a direct notification letter, there is no action needed. If you wish to confirm whether your information has been involved, please contact our incident support team on asmgbrisbane_privacy@asmglobal.com .

We want to assure you that we have been working with various experts and external advisors to assist with our response to the incident. We have also notified and worked with relevant government agencies, including the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC)

Information involved

The personal information involved includes information that could have been provided in the course of attending events, such as contact details, accessibility requirements, dietary preferences for catered events, and other health-related or personal notes voluntarily provided to us in connection with accommodating certain needs,  such as accessibility, or dietary needs relating to some of our past events.

We provide guidance below on the steps individuals can take to protect information from potential misuse.

What steps can individuals take to protect their information?

Read the below ‘Cyber safety guidance’ and specific advice for types of information you may have previously provided to Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

We are taking all appropriate steps in response to this incident and are committed to supporting those impacted.

Should any individuals have any questions regarding this incident or the guidance provided below, please contact our incident support team on asmgbrisbane_privacy@asmglobal.com.

Cyber safety guidance

We recommend you remain vigilant against the risk of phishing emails and scams, which are often the most likely risk associated with any unauthorised access to personal information. In this instance, personal information may include contact information and some health-related information.

Please consider if you have provided this to us in the past and, if so, follow the guidance below:

Contact information (name, address, email address and/or phone number)

The most common risk associated with unauthorised access to your contact information is the potential to receive scam emails, calls or text messages. To help protect yourself from these scams, it is important to:

  • be aware of email, telephone and text-based scams. Do not share your personal information with anyone unless you are confident about who you are sharing it with;
  • when on a webpage asking for your login credentials, take note of the web address or URL (‘Uniform Resource Locator’). The URL is located in the address bar of your web browser and typically starts with https://;
  • if you are suspicious of the URL, do not provide your login details. Contact the entity through the usual channels to ensure you are logging into the correct web page. Please note that we will never contact you to ask for your username or password;
  • enable multi-factor authentication (MFA) for your online accounts where possible, including your email, banking, and social media accounts;
  • ensure you have up-to-date anti-virus software installed on any device you use to access your online accounts; and
  • follow the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s Scamwatch guidance for protecting yourself from scams here: https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/get-help/protect-yourself-from-scams/.

For more information, you can refer to the OAIC’s tips about protecting your identity: https://www.oaic.gov.au/privacy/your-privacy-rights/tips-to-protect-your-privacy/.

Health-related information

Health-related information relating to some former patrons and event attendees was involved in the incident.

For context, cyber-criminals typically seek to misuse information that can be easily manipulated for financial gain (such as credit cards and identity documents for identity theft). For this reason, health information by itself is generally not useful to a cyber-criminal but we nevertheless refer to guidance above

The types of health-related details potentially involved are generally notes provided to support the experience at our venue, such as:

  • accessibility requirements (e.g. wheelchair access or seating arrangements);
  • dietary preferences or allergy information for catered events; and
  • other benign health-related notes supplied voluntarily for event participation.

We know that it will be concerning to learn that health information may have been accessed in this manner.

If you would like more information about the health information related to you that may have been involved, please contact asmgbrisbane_privacy@asmglobal.com.
